Keep U.S. Ground Troops Out of Foreign Wars

Opinion: Keep U.S. Ground Troops Out of Foreign Wars – A Plea for Defensive Restraint

Fellow Americans,

I love this country with every fiber of my being. I want America strong, secure, and sovereign. That’s why, as a lifelong defender of the Constitution and your candidate for Governor of New York, I am calling on President Trump and every leader in Washington to keep our ground troops out of the Middle East and every other foreign conflict—unless and until our own homeland is invaded.

Our Marines and soldiers are not global policemen. They are America’s shield. They should be stationed here, training, ready, and focused on defending our borders, our cities, and our families—not chasing endless wars overseas that drain our blood, our treasure, and our strength.

Look at the facts. Iraq and Afghanistan cost us over 7,000 American lives, wounded tens of thousands more, and burned through trillions of dollars. That money could have secured our own southern border, rebuilt our infrastructure, and strengthened our communities right here at home. We toppled dictators, only to watch chaos rise in their place. We created power vacuums that birthed ISIS and new threats. Enough is enough. By Carl Gottstein, Constitution Party Candidate for Governor of New York

Iran has been a thorn in America’s side for fifty years—nobody disputes that. But even if action against them feels justified, let’s finish the job quickly, decisively, and then bring every last American son and daughter home. No more open-ended occupations. No more nation-building. No more stretching our all-volunteer force until it snaps.

And let’s be honest: when the day comes that America herself is threatened on our own soil, no foreign army is riding to our rescue. We’ve seen it time and again—our allies cheer us on when we spend our treasure abroad, but they vanish when we need them most. That is why we must keep our powder dry and our forces focused on the homeland. We cannot afford to keep bleeding resources in the Middle East today, only to wonder tomorrow whether we’ll be sending troops into Africa or Asia next.

The Constitution is crystal clear: provide for the common defense—not police the world. Intelligence, naval power, missile defense, special operations, and smart diplomacy are more than enough to protect our interests without putting boots on the ground in endless quagmires.

New Yorkers and Americans from every state deserve leaders who put America First—not America Alone in the world’s forever wars. President Trump, you promised to end the endless wars. Keep that promise. Bring our troops home. Keep them home. Reserve them for the defense of this great Republic—the one place on Earth they truly belong.

God bless our men and women in uniform.
God bless America.
And God bless the United States of America.
With unwavering resolve,
