The Absolute Horror of Assisted Suicide in New York

The Absolute Horror of Assisted Suicide Becoming Law in New York: A Total Betrayal of Our Veterans and Basic Human Dignity

Folks, Governor Kathy Hochul just signed New York’s Medical Aid in Dying Act on February 6, 2026—it’s set to kick in on August 5, 2026—and it’s straight out of a nightmare.[1][2]

This thing pretends to be about compassion, letting terminally ill folks with less than six months left get lethal meds, but come on—it’s cracking open the door to cheapening life itself, hitting our veterans hard who are already fighting depression and suicidal thoughts from their service.[3][4]

They say it’s mercy for the dying, but it’s really pushing government-approved self-killing, wiping out the sacredness of life in some cold, godless chase for “efficiency” over real care and humanity.

Look at places like Oregon, California, and Washington where this has been legal forever: Veteran suicides are still sky-high—matching the national mess at 34.7 per 100,000 in 2022 compared to 17.1 for everyone else—but the data shows no direct tie to these laws.[5][6][7]

A 2025 study even says overall suicide rates didn’t spike after legalization; the line between end-of-life help and mental health crises stays put, with zero proof it’s pushing more vet suicides.[8][9]

But this fake “kindness” could still mess with people’s heads, making the hopeless think death’s just an easy “option” instead of battling through with therapy, support from folks who care, and maybe some faith to hold onto.

The people backing this nightmare—like Hochul, who trots out her own sad stories but ignores how soul-destroying this is—are straight-up cowards, selling death as “dignity” to save a buck on the folks society’s already let down.[10][11]

They’re stabbing our veterans in the back—these heroes deserve real help and respect, not a fast track to the end.

This is beyond unhuman; it’s like we’re in some twisted, through-the-looking-glass world where life’s value gets trashed for empty “choice.”

We gotta fight this: Stand up against this evil. Hit up your lawmakers, get your community fired up, push for repeal.

Life is sacred
